Drawing upon
my education, work and life experience, I offer support in many areas including:
life and career transitions; health and wellness; relationships (mate, friendships, parents, siblings, co-workers); decisions
& dilemmas; workplace issues; depression; anxiety; communication skills; assertiveness; goal setting/achievement; and
much more. We'll work on these concerns with a variety of philosophies and effective
therapies including cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused
and narrative.
Using hypnotherapy, we can address a wide variety of issues, including those related to: anxiety, confidence/self-esteem,
creating or removing habits (such as exercising more, stopping nail biting, etc.), insomnia, food/eating, chronic pain, phobias
(i.e. fear of flying, heights, spiders), study skills, sugar addiction, test anxiety, weight management, and more.
PHILOSOPHY
My "therapeutic style" is warm, direct, engaged, challenging, and
supportive. Since each person is unique, I use a personalized approach to help you find resolution
to problems, achieve goals and gain insight. My philosophy is that answers and change emerge from deep listening,
honest interactions and a willingness to try something different.
Additionally, I think focusing exclusively on your childhood during our time together is like
driving with your eyes fixed firmly on the rear-view mirror! So, while we'll talk about your childhood, your adulthood
will get more attention as we focus on the 'what' and 'how' in addition to the 'why.' In other
words, we will balance our time between the cause and the symptoms while we explore: "Given
that, what now?" This approach encourages insightful choices and supports positive
change for your future.
It's also important
to know imbalance stems from a variety of factors, so I take a 'whole person' approach to our work
together. This includes conversations about what works in your life; what you eat; how you sleep; how you have fun, etc.
If you're interested, we may also explore how other practitioners can support you with the physical components
of mental and emotional health--including massage, acupuncture, naturopathy, homeopathy, nutrition, etc.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
My Master's degree in Applied Behavioral Science
with a Systems Counseling concentration is from the Leadership Institute of Seattle. This degree included a clinical internship, which I completed at Group
Health Cooperative. Additionally, I have a certificate in Clinical Hypnotherapy from Everett Community College
and a Baccalaureate degree in Human Services from Western Washington University.
My professional
background includes human resources, employee relations, workplace wellness, teaching, administration, training, advising/consulting,
radio, professional voice work and organizing/de-cluttering. Previously, I served
as the Chair of the Board of Directors
at a local non-profit that encouraged the integrated healing of depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder.
If you have questions or want
additional information, please contact me. I look forward to talking about how we can work together.
